Effects of Cyber Bullying on University Students in Pakistan

  • Cyber bullying is most commonly described as acts of harassment, oppression and threatening of people by using technology such as emails, text messaging, defamatory websites and instant messaging services. It has detrimental effects on victims from affecting their mental and emotional condition to even committing suicide. The current study aims to explore the expanding rate of cyber bullying among adult university students in Pakistan. A survey method design is used to examine the correlation between cyber bullying and university student’s self-esteem and locus of control especially when these students are bullied on the bases of gender, race and social status. The results of this studies have divulged a higher rate of cyber bullying incidents among university students as compared to some previous researches. It has also been observed that most of the victims of are bullied on the bases of gender, race and social status. A positive linkage between cyber bullying and self-esteem of victims has been found. Some of the respondents were aware of the culprits while others were not. 

    All in all, Cyber harassing has extremely harming results to people. It upsets there school life, has great emotional harm and may have lethal outcomes. Despite the fact that technology has brought new open doors for youngsters, it is essential that everybody figure out how to utilize it mindfully. Strategies ought to likewise be set up to guarantee that technology is utilized responsibly.
