10 years, this is the time frame for a generation to develop and called as one generation. We are now in 2019 and our running generation is very fledgling to access the later effects of information they are bombarded with. Parents are assumed to be the most responsible and knowledgeable beings in our Pakistani society, but do they really deserve these titles? To answer this question, we can easily look at the upbringing trends of Today's parents. Children from 2-6 years of age are left on the mercy of YouTube videos. Their entertainment, information, education, eating habits, communication skills, daily routine, languages, behavior and as well as their lens to see the world is through YouTube Videos. This is not only a statement that is made but it is been researched through Qualitative Interviewing method conducted with 30 parents belonging from three class divisions of our society. When the mothers were asked questions related to the significance of YouTube Videos in their child’s life, they all portrayed YouTube as a lifesaving aid for them. Mothers called YouTube as the only help they are getting to raise their child peacefully and hustle free, as when the child is not with his mother he is with YouTube. So, when it is evident that YouTube is a vital part of every other child we need to see what will the possible impacts this insertion in their lives. If we look at the content of YouTube, then diversity of content will be an understatement because it is far more than that now. Children of this tender age are exposed to trillions and trillions of videos that contain material harmful for their mental growth. The content is not only inappropriate but also against the norms and values of society they are living in. However, there is always a positive side to everything so as YouTube. 20 out of 30 mothers claimed that their child got his basic education from YouTube videos such learning of alphabets, counting, identification of colors, shapes and nursery rhymes. Whereas there were mothers who stated that their child is showing disruptive behavior, using abusive or unethical language, becoming aggressive and violent, having eating and sleeping disorders, difficulty in socializing and become introvert. These impacts if persist in their cognitive minds then they can result in devastating results. Children who are growing in this age need to be more socialized and aware of their natural surroundings otherwise in future there will be only one existing world and will be virtual world. It is need of the time that parents both mother and father give their child quality time and upbringing. They should nourish all the necessary attitudes, ideologies and personality traits in their children, so that this heritage of our society carried forward. “Youth is the hope of Future”, this saying is being taken for guaranteed in present parenthood techniques. It is the moment that parents should revive their elder’s parenting skills.
