Role of science communication on environmental awareness in Pak

  • Environmental change is a worldwide danger as its circumstances and end results are not restricted to national borders, but to the whole world. Pakistan is also facing environmental challenges. The main purpose of this study is to examine the severity, nature and status of environmental issues in the news published in two leading Pakistani newspapers. At the same time, the focus of this research is to investigate the effects that play an important role in the production of environmental news at the macro and micro levels.

    Environmental hazards have gotten unquestionably more genuine and complex than any other time in recent times. For as far back as couple of years, the earth has encountered genuine environmental decline. Famines and droughts in Midwest region of United States and catastrophic floods happening in Bangladesh. Environmental disasters affected Pakistan such as floods, earthquakes; wind storms and extreme temperature were illustrations of the occurrence, which were firmly connected to the changing climate examples of the globe.

    The purpose behind this research is to make a correlation between the publishing of environmental news stories, opinion, editorials and the public awareness in giving what Sachs and David Rubin called an early warning system in reporting environmental weakening to the society.

    Awareness is a key to mitigate the impact of environmental disasters and Science Communication is considered to be affective. Science Communication is the exchange of scientific research findings, exchange of scientific facts and figures to either scientist or non-scientific audience.

    Objectives behind this research are to find the role of science communication on environmental awareness in Pakistan. It will also understand the role of media in raising public awareness about the environment.
