Struggles of Final Project

  • With less than hundred days until graduation, I have come to a realization that final semester of the university is far the most difficult phase. Not only the final project load but also choosing a unique topic for thesis/documentary that remains futuristic.

I started doing research for the idea one week before I had to present it to the director of my university 'Sir Rehan.' At first, I had a difficulty in finding those topics that are rarely documented before. Most of them were based on social issues which personally I don't approve of. After a lot of thinking I came up with two topics for the documentary and discussed it with my supervisor 'Sir Mateen.' The reason of choosing these two topics was it could have more content in it than interviews. Following are the topics that I presented:

    1. Pakistani media portrayal now-a-days.
    2. Comparison of dhabbas vs other food chains.

Sir Rehan was kind enough to take my second topic in consideration and as he wanted this topic to be associated with media so the topic refined as "Reincarnation of dhabba culture." After this begins the development of project as the topic is finalized. I have done a lot of research on my topic, read articles/ blogs/ newspaper's report from past years that whether media is promoting the culture of dhabba or not and I have come to a conclusion that media hasn't done much in promoting this lifestyle. Now that my topic is approved I am trying to develop a story for my documentary and finding people to assist me in camera work.

I am looking forward to make an interesting documentary with a variety and specialty of food including different perspectives in it related to media and society. I hope I give my best in my final project.
