    COMMUNICATION:
    All the species in the world have a perfect system of communication. It is the act of conveying intended meanings from one entity or group to another through mutual signals or semiotic rules. In general it is the basic means of connecting people or place; serves to inform, motivate, establish authority and control and allows for emotive expressions.

    Channels of communication can be visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory or electromagnetic.

    GROWTH IN COMMUNICATION WITH STAGES

    Just as the mankind has evolved over the centuries, means of communication has also improved. From primitive cave paintings and signed languages in Stone Age till now, there are infinite ways to communicate. Communication has existed in various forms since man appeared on Earth. First means of communication was the Human Voice approximately about 500,000 years. After which symbols were developed about 30,000 years ago, and the most well-known form of primitive communication were Cave painting, Rock art, Storytelling, Drums and smoke signals. Relays of horses and Pigeons also had been used by ancient civilizations for messages.


    Written communication was first emerged through pictograms, ideograms and petroglyphs. After which proper writing system was introduced in the beginning of Bronze Age about 3200 B.C. Alphabetic system was developed around 1700 B.C. However about 15,000 years ago, first calendar was invented.

    Communication from 15th to 18th century: In this era major improvement in communication was the invention of printing. Printing press was introduced in 15th century in Europe. By the same time European Postal service was initially set up to convey messages in 16th century. The first newspaper was invented in 17th century (in 1702). Invention of Telescope in this era makes possible a wide range of optical signalling system. Telegraph was also introduced in 1837 to improve the system of communication. After which invention of Photographic technology in 18th century also played essential part in improving communication system. Cable system was introduced across channels to send messages. Fax machines was invented by the same time in 1843. Meanwhile by the end of 18th century invention of Telephone play a major part to revolutionize communication system. However invention of Typewriter played a major part in developing written communication system.

    Communication in the 19th and 20th century: New and efficient forms of communication was introduced in this era. Mail system was developed that majorly replaced telegraph and telephone system. Radio was one the famous communication technology of this era thus was a huge step in the field of communication. First broadcasting system was also introduced in early 19’s and this system took the world by storm which connected two millions homes with several broadcasting stations. Television System was initially invented in 1925, meanwhile First communication satellite was presented in 1960’s.After the laser light technology, Laser printers were introduced in the field of communication. After which Cell Phone technology was primarily presented to the world in 1973 and the first Smartphones was invented in 1996.Originally Internet was also designed in 1967 with the purpose to connect to the people and share information. In communication; it helps in socializing, conducting research and advertising. Weblog was developed in 1997 to deliver information via internet.

    Humans have communicated with one another in some shape or form ever since time immemorial. But to understand the history of communication, all we have to go by are written records that date as far back as ancient Mesopotamia. And while every sentence starts with a letter, back then people began with a picture,  the history of communication in a nutshell, the human race progressed and modernized so did human communication. And as information became more valuable, the methods being used to send it became more of a priority thus communication has come a long way, and it’s only getting better.
