I’ve been a big fan of video games. In fact I used to spend most of my time playing them. I never had this feeling while playing them that they’re somehow teaching violence to me and to everyone who’s playing such kind of games. I don’t think that I’ve missed playing any popular game till last year. These games are undoubtedly very attractive and addictive for children and for adults even. The video game industry is the richest industry in the world. Most of the popular games these days promote fights and violence but we are so immune that we do not bother to even think for once that what are they teaching us. The reason behind this immunity is that we are used to playing such games and watching violent cartoons since our childhood. Also, there is nobody to guide us that we are learning what we should not learn at all and that is extremism and violence.
The biggest issue that happened a few days ago in Christchurch in which 49 Muslims got martyred before Jummah prayer in Mosque was also a result of such violent games addiction. The butcher who killed innocent men, women and children was proven addict of such violent games. According to his family, he used to play such games day and night. They didn’t even know that how those games affected his personality, changed his personality and made him a criminal. This cruel incident made me realize that the murderer’s way of killing people was the same as that of on games like Delta Force, IGI, Counter-Strike, Call of Duty and PUBG etc. These are the games which we all have played once or are still playing. I never thought that people will start killing innocent people in real life like they kill their enemies in these games.
Racism and Islamophobia in the West is increasing day by day. This is causing a lot of tensions for the Muslims living abroad and their families in their own countries. Every Muslim is worried because of the current situation. The sad thing is that still there are some Muslims who are least bothered about what happened.
So this murderer thought himself to be a commando. Placed a Go-pro camera in his cap. Picked up his gun like the commandos in such games and went to kill his enemies i.e. Muslims who were totally non-violent and innocent. One of them even welcomed him before he was shot dead by him. He considered “Muslims” his enemies because of the racism and Islamophobia in Australia. He is an Australian citizen who killed people in New Zealand which is also a big question mark that why had he not done that in his own country?
A few months ago I saw a man snatching vehicles from people, doing rash driving, hitting cars and running like the characters of GTA VICE CITY game. It was totally the same as what happens in that game. Some people get so much addicted to these video games that they think of themselves as the main characters of the games they play. After that they find enemies to hurt them and for them, the easy targets are Muslims whom they are killing everywhere brutally. Islam is a religion of peace but these Islamophobists have managed to present the wrong image of Islam. Muslims are the sufferers to be really honest in the current situation of the world like in Kashmir, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine and even in Pakistan. The actual terrorists are themselves who spread terror also and then make Muslim responsible for the acts of violence they do. The terrorists who kill Muslims are called Gunmen and when Muslims retaliate, they call them terrorists.
These games are adding violence and anger in the mentalities of people playing them. Also on the other hand they’re making gamers immune. This immunity is very dangerous for us. We don’t even care know even after knowing about the mass murders of our innocent Muslim brothers. We play these games for time pass and entertainment but these are becoming a part of our personalities. People especially children and youth should be taught about the drawbacks and negative impacts of playing such games. They should also be taught what will happen if they will get immune. They should also be guided that how much harmful the addiction of such games is. These games are making a normal human wild, arrogant, rude and inhumane. According to my point of view, there should be a proper team made by the government officials with a task of judging all the games, educating the gamers and banning the games which are teaching violence and extremism among individuals.
As long as the Christchurch incident is concerned, I hope that the cruel animal who killed so many innocent souls will be given a brutal punishment i.e. he will be given a death penalty Insha’Allah. But there might be so many more such people who are addicted to such games and I hope that this will not become a trend of killing Muslims and making live videos. For them, the biggest hurdle is Islam and the biggest enemies are Muslims. This is the reason why they are finding ways to kill our brothers and sisters. They first of all show what they are about to do in future in their movies, cartoons and games and when they’re sure that people have become immune and people don’t care what is happening, they kill Muslims the same way they kill their enemies in video games. This seriously needs to stop as soon as possible because this is causing a big threat to peace. Muslims will also not stay quiet now if a proper action is not taken against Islamophobia. Until when will our brothers, sisters and children get killed for no reason? Now is the time when Muslims should put their differences aside, and get on the same page. This is the only way how we can face and defeat the enemies of Islam!
